My name is Jacob Forsyth-Davies, I am a photographer, videographer, and media professional based in Edinburgh, Scotland. With over 7 years of experience working on a wide range of projects from international organisations such as Tearfund to capturing special occasions such as engagement parties, I am determined to provide a creative, unique, and high quality service.
As a young teenager, I borrowed my parent’s camera on holiday, and went crazy with it, taking pictures of insects, mushrooms, rocks, everything. From there, I very quickly started going out a few times a week for walks, trying different ideas for images, experimenting with different settings. I have never had any formal training or schooling in photography, only years of experience, from starting out in my garden and local area, to travelling across Europe, and to locations such as Uganda and Bangladesh, before getting my degree and setting up a professional practice here in Edinburgh.
While I do not have a permanent studio space, I have plenty of studio equipment, and find that either shooting on location or at my home in Edinburgh does just fine. In addition, there are several local studio spaces which I am able to rent for a day or several days if needed for a specific shoot.
I do! I have done video for several different events, including my work with Edinburgh University Student Union, and would be happy to provide video services.
Usually I will deliver the photographs using an Adobe Lightroom gallery, an online gallery that allows you to look through all the images, share with your friends, family, clients, and download the images after final payment. If I am doing the production & editing for video, I will upload it to Vimeo, allowing it to be shared and downloaded by you and others you choose, if I am not I will send the raw footage using WeTransfer, a simple file sharing tool.
In the unlikely event that I am unable to attend an event due to unforeseen circumstances, I will get in touch with several photographers of at least equal quality and experience, so that one of them may attend the event in my place.
I am fully insured, including equipment, liability, and indemnity insurance.
My aim for all shoots is to have all the photographs edited, finished, and sent within 72 hours of the event, and the majority of time this is the case. In busier periods this may not always be possible, but I can guarantee the finished photographs will be delivered within 14 days. Video work is more variable, and depends on the individual project, but I can give you a better estimation in discussing the video with you.
As a photographer I have a strong preference for candid, unscripted moments, and capturing these provides a much more honest and real portrayal of a person, whether at an event, or taking some family photographs.
